Bodyswaps VR training now accessible to RSM members worldwide

Our new Navigating Angry Conversations virtual reality (VR) module is now accessible online, allowing Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) members to engage with it from any corner of the globe.

Since June 2023, members have been able to try out the module using a VR headset at the RSM Library. Now, you can access it anywhere, with or without a VR headset.

To celebrate this development, RSM members also now have access to the full Bodyswaps library until 2 November 2023. This means you can practise other skills, such as interview technique, public speaking and active listening, at no cost to you. There are more than 20 different modules you can complete.

After this free trial of the full library ends on 2 November 2023, you will still be able to access the Navigating Angry Conversations module.

With ever-growing pressures on the NHS, dealing with angry or frustrated patients and their relatives has become increasingly common for those working in healthcare.

Our module, developed with VR company Bodyswaps, enables you to practise navigating angry conversations with patients and their relatives in VR before having to do so face-to-face. The simulation is enhanced by AI software to help you improve your ability to identify anger signals, recognise how different responses can diffuse or exacerbate anger, remain calm in hostile situations, and move the situation forward with empathy.

If you have your own VR headset, you can access the full immersive experience from wherever you are. If you don’t have a headset, you can either come into the RSM Library and use one here or try out the light version on your computer or mobile device.

Find out more on accessing the module. Remember, if you do this before 2 November 2023, you will also have access to the rest of the Bodyswaps library.
