Call for applications for RSM Psychiatry Section scholarship programme

The Royal Society of Medicine Psychiatry Section scholarship programme is an exciting development opportunity for resident doctors, funded by philanthropic donations.  It aims to support the development of resident doctors in a way that not only supports the development of the individual scholars but extends this impact through their scholarship work to enhance the way the RSM supports all residents.

Why you should apply

This is a key developmental opportunity that offers education, mentoring, networking, and professional development to complement your time as a resident doctor.

As an RSM psychiatry scholar, you would be financially supported to become a member of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) for the remaining period as a resident doctor. Throughout this time, you would be further supported to attend specialty, resident doctor, and broader events at the RSM, as well as receive mentoring and professional development support. The RSM scholars also have the opportunity to network with other members and attend exclusive RSM scholar networking events. In addition, there will be scholarship activity which the scholars will take part in – generally (on a flexible basis) around 5 days per annum. While these activities will not involve a research project, there may be opportunities to contribute to or even take a leadership role in organising events.

RSM scholars will receive support to share their scholarly work with various audiences, including peers, other RSM members, and the psychiatry community.  They will aim to make an impact and develop through these opportunities, striving for innovation that benefits both the sector and the patient experience and outcomes.

Click here to download the form and submit your application to RSMscholarship@rsm.ac.uk. The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on Thursday 13 February 2025.
