Vote now in Royal Society of Medicine Trustees election

Members can now vote for four new Elected Council Members (Trustees) to serve on the Council of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Ballot papers have been sent to all members this week, by email or post. Those sent by post may take a few days to arrive, depending on the address.

Voting opens today (6 May 2022) and members have until 12 noon on 24 June 2022 to cast their votes.

Professor Roger Kirby, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, said: “We want our members to be part of the Royal Society of Medicine, helping us move forward strategically into the future, making the right decisions and modernising this very venerable, historic organisation, which has done so much during the pandemic to keep the public and all healthcare professionals informed about Covid.

“So, we would love it if you put your cross in the box and voted for our Council.”

Nominations were sought from the membership in January 2022, which resulted in 10 candidates being nominated.

Information about each candidate is being provided alongside ballot papers.

The election process will be conducted by Metra Martech and UK Engage on behalf of the Royal Society of Medicine. They follow the strict guidelines of the Market Research Society on maintaining confidentiality.

This is an exciting time to join the Council of the RSM as we seek to deliver our new strategy “Better Healthcare for Better Lives”, focusing on the following four pillars:

Education: delivering multi-disciplinary, specialist and general education as well as professional development

Learning Resources: providing excellent medical resources

Networks: connecting those involved in and interested in healthcare

Innovation: leveraging expertise from across the RSM to help innovators.

Successful candidates will be elected on three-year terms and will help to support and implement the new strategy.  In addition, we anticipate that those successful in this election may be required to sit on the Business Development Committee, the Governance Committee, the Remuneration, People and Culture Committee and the Safety Committee.
