Boost for surgical trainees as new partnership announced

The Royal Society of Medicine and the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) have announced a new partnership designed to complement the training and career development of surgical trainees.

The partnership will provide ASiT members with access to the RSM’s prestigious education programmes, learning resources and clinician networks. For the RSM, the alliance with ASiT will bring valuable insights into the working lives and career developments of surgeons in training.

Professor Humphrey Scott, Dean, Royal Society of Medicine, said: “We are proud to announce our new collaboration with ASiT, whose members represent a dynamic community of diverse voices in surgery. We look forward to supporting our new colleagues by providing them with unique opportunities to develop their learning and education.”

ASiT, the independent professional body that works to promote the highest standards in surgical training, is the only organisation in the UK to represent trainees at both core and higher surgical training levels. With 3,500 members representing all ten surgical specialties, ASiT supports trainees with courses, trainee grants, prizes and fellowships. Each year ASiT hosts an Annual Conference with a programme of educational courses, scientific presentations, lectures and topical debate on all aspects of surgery and surgical training.
